چکیده

Rapidly and robustly disseminating safety messages is an important goal for vehicle-to-vehicle communications. When multiple vehicles receive an alert message, packet collisions may occur if they rebroadcast the message simultaneously. Due to the broadcast nature of safety messages, acknowledgement on the reception of packets is difficult, and such collision leads to nonrecoverable failed delivery. The proposed Receive Power-Based Prioritized Rebroadcast (RPPR) scheme (1) minimizes the probability of packet collision during rebroadcast, and (2) maximizes the probability that a vehicle that is furthest away from the source rebroadcasts an alert message first. This improves robustness and minimizes the packet delivery time. ITS World Congress 2009 This work may not be copied or reproduced in whole or in part for any commercial purpose. Cloud-Assisted Safety Message Dissemination in VANET-Cellular Heterogeneous Wireless Network

In vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), efficient message dissemination is critical to road safety and traffic efficiency. Since many VANET-based schemes suffer from high transmission delay and data redundancy, integrated VANETcellular heterogeneous network has been proposed recently and attracted significant attention. However, most existing studies focus on selecting suitable gateways to deliv...

Analysis of Vehicle-Based Security Operations

Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications promises to increase roadway safety by providing each vehicle with 360 degree situational awareness of other vehicles in proximity, and by complementing onboard sensors such as radar or camera in detecting imminent crash scenarios. In the United States, approximately three hundred million automobiles could participate in a fully deployed V2V system if Ded...

“ Verify - on - Demand ” - A Practical and Scalable Approach for Broadcast Authentication in Vehicle - to - Vehicle Communication 2011 - 01 - 0584 Published 04 / 12 / 2011

In general for Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication, message authentication is performed on every received wireless message by conducting verification for a valid signature, and only messages that have been successfully verified are processed further. In V2V safety communication, there are a large number of vehicles and each vehicle transmits safety messages frequently; therefore the number o...

Mitigating Broadcast Storm Problems in Vanets

For efficient data dissemination over a network, the most commonly used solution is broadcasting the messages by flooding the data over the network. Issues concerned with flooding are redundant rebroadcasting of messages and collision leading to broadcast storm problem. This paper proposes a strategy to overcome the broadcast storm problem in an Vanets using the bounding algorithm. Our analysis...

Bayesian Trust Scheme: A Decentralized Safety Message Trust Method in Multi-Hop V2V Networks

Abstract Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) have an important role in improving road safety especially when no infrastructure is available. Inter vehicle communications (IVCs) provide decentralized communications where vehicles cooperate together to disseminate road traffic data relying on broadcasting reports and warning messages. Trusting the data of every warning message must be accomplishe...
